Hello lovelies! Welcome back! Here's my part 2 of my food hunt adventure and if you have not seen the part 1 click here. My dad's sister recommended us to dine in at Hai Wei restaurant, which is a family-run restaurant and little did I know that the restaurant is located at Leisure Cove Serviced Apartments and my instant reaction before heading to the restaurant was like....why are we going to an apartment o.o It's so odd to see a famous delicious restaurant can be located at this kind of place, it's like a hidden gem. Seriously, I wouldn't know there's a famous restaurant, if no one tells me.
Here's a first dish, Fried Assam prawns. My first impression was, " it must be marmite prawn or something" because of the colour of the sauce that gives an impression of salty-ness. The prawns is really fresh as it has a combination of sweet and sour taste concealed in it.Once this dish was served I saw Cheesy prawns on the other table and I gave a sad face to my dad, "Y U NO ORDER CHEESY PRAWNS? T-T"
My aunt ordered Fried Popiah as this dish is a star for appetizer which of course, eating by itself not with rice. The popiah is definitely smells fragrant and it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with carrots, sengkuang and other vegetables that you will usually see in an popiah. Honestly, this is the best fried popiah so far. :D
Another dish was absolutely my favourite dish which totally blends well with rice and it is Assam Sauce with Fried Chicken. Well supposedly this dish was called Lemon Chicken however my cousin who doesn't like lemon with no reason why and apparently her mum asked them to change the sauce to assam sauce and it's still taste delicious. The sauce was sweet and sour, coated with cripsy fried chicken - chopped into smaller piece. Scrumptiously delicious.
Finally, steamed fish. Not my favorite but the soup is really good. It has a nice sour taste which is from Ham Choi (Salty Vegetable) and the flavour of soup was well balanced, not too salty nor sour. I kept munching ham choi which I always love eating them! :P
That's all what we ate at Hai Wei and I saw a few blogs that they had tried a few delicious dishes that I wanted to try next time when I visit Penang again.
